INNISBROOK 2011 TOURNAMENT SUMMARY

24 physicians and their wives just completed the spring 2011 meeting with AMTA's first visit to Innisbrook Resort near Tampa, Florida. Drs. Spicka, Skala and Nerad and wives from the Czech Republic were a welcomed addition to our AMTA meeting. This was their second trip to join AMTA in the US, having attended the 2007 WMTS international meeting in San Diego.

We enjoyed great weather as well as well-attended CME lectures. Spectators were treated to some exciting tennis matches. One doubles match even had a super 10 point 3rd set tiebreak go 23-21! The viewing was spectacular because we had huge trees always providing shade with plenty of chairs and tables.

Opening dinner was outside around the pool, a lovely experience after the long winter. Long-time member Mike Reilly and his wife Jennifer joined us for dinner, since they live close by in St. Petersburg. Mike and Jennifer have been busy raising 6 boys!

At the Awards Banquet, we were treated to original lyrics to a familiar song, sung by our new President, Phong Nguyen. We all joined in to sing it with him as he passed out the lyrics! See below for the results of the tournament.

Two team candidates for the Executive Director's position starting January, 2012 attended the meeting to get the experience of an AMTA meeting. Members were able to get to know them by spending the week together. We were very pleased to have two willing candidates. A Board meeting was held Wednesday where the candidates presented qualifications and ideas for the future.
