For the first time AMTA held its fall meeting at La Quinta Resort, La Quinta CA. The weather Gods smiled down upon us with several days in the low 80s, high cloud cover and no rain. Also, for the first time in many years, we had 3 age categories of men's singles: MS 40 & 50, MS 60, and MS 70 as well as an 8 women compass draw in singles. Yeah! Five new members enjoyed their 1st AMTA meeting and were a great addition to the group. Mark Leahy from Nebraska, Bruce Bammel from Kansas, Gary Bellack from Los Angeles, Larry Deutsch from Ottowa, Canada and WW Stoever from Oklahoma. Monday night Betty and Lon hosted a patio cocktail party where a slideshow presentation was shown of the 2007 World Medical Tennis Society (WMTS) tournament site. AMTA will host the 2007 WMTS meeting in San Diego, CA using the Hilton Resort Mission Bay as the headquarter hotel and the Barnes Tennis Center as the tennis facilities. A new CME format was beta tested and very well received. We will be fine tuning the format for the Williamsburg, VA meeting May, 2006. For inquiries about the new format email the CME Director.
