Smoke Tree Ranch in Palm Springs is truly one of a kind. You can't beat 70-80 degree weather, no rain, and cool nights. A tennis players delight. We had some delicious food, great tennis, and some wonderful social interchanges.

On Wednesday, the day was spent with the dentists. They arrived at 8am to participate in a joint CME meeting, while the women played. The dentists had yellow team t-shirts (see pictures) and we had lime green team shirts, so you could tell who was who. We played matches the rest of the day calling it Docs vs Dents. We had lunch together at the Smoke Tree Dining Room. The final match of the day was the 55S with Craig Broome, MD playing Mani Morshed, DDS (former Iranian Davis Cup.) They put on a show of some excellent tennis to the enthusiastic crowd of spectators. Mani prevailed 6-3, 4-6 (13-11). The cocktail party and awards reception around the pool started at 4:30pm.

There was some wonderful tennis played by all - unfortunately the dentists took the overall trophy winning 15 matches to our 8. Everyone won though because we had such a great day. Dr. Jerry Laffer, DDS, handed out gold and silver medals to all participants. We were then treated to Dr. Mark Sweeney, DDS from Austin playing his guitar and singing some original lyrics dedicated to tennis players.

Thursday night we joined the colonists for their Opening Party Barbecue at the ranch. The street in front of the ranch house was decorated like an old western town - boots, jeans and stetsons was the dress code. There was scrumptious food and a live band to dance into the night. It doesn't get any better than that!!!
